Vriendenboek  

Lies Aini, een Indonesisch meisje uit Jakarta, houdt in 1946 – tijdens de onafhankelijkheidsstrijd – een vriendenboek bij. Er zijn veel bijdragen van mensen uit de nationalistische beweging, ook van de toenmalige premier Sutan Syahrir.     

‘Friends book’  

During the struggle for independence, Lies Aini, an Indonesian girl from Jakarta, kept a ‘friends book’ in which friends and acquaintances wrote things for her. Many who did so were part of the nationalist movement, including Sutan Syahrir, the prime minister at the time.

Persoonsdossier

De Nederlandse Militaire Inlichtingendienst (NEFIS) maakt jacht op informatie over strijders en intellectuele aanvoerders van de onafhankelijkheidsstrijd. Zij leggen persoonsdossiers aan; de informatie is vaak gekleurd, passend binnen het Nederlandse politieke doel.      

Sutan Sjahrir is de eerste premier van Indonesië en speelt een belangrijke rol in de onderhandelingen met Nederland. Setyadjit Sugondo was vanaf 1946 politicus in Indonesië en viceminister in het kabinet-Sjahrir.     

Personal files  

The Dutch military intelligence service (NEFIS) hunted information on fighters and intellectual leaders of the struggle for independence. They created personal files containing information that was often twisted to suit Dutch political aims.     

Sutan Sjahrir was the first prime minister of Indonesia and played an important role in the negotiations with the Netherlands. From 1946 on, Setyadjit Sugondo served as an Indonesian politician and was vice-minister in the Sjahrir cabinet.

Deze Indonesische vlag uit de Revolusi tijd is vermoedelijk door Nederlandse militairen in beslag genomen en als souvenir meegenomen naar Nederland.
