Winners World Press Photo Contest 2025 announced

Today, Thursday 27 March, World Press Photo announced the winners of the annual photojournalism competition. Six regional juries and an international jury reviewed 59,320 submissions from 3,778 photographers across 141 countries. A total of 42 winning projects and photographers have been selected, including two Dutch photographers: Marijn Fidder (1997) and Prins Vos (1991). Check out all the winners here. Together, they showcase the world’s best photojournalism and documentary photography from the past year.

On Thursday 17 April, at 11:00 AM, the media will also be introduced to two finalists alongside the renowned Photo of the Year in De Nieuwe Kerk. World Press Photo is introducing a new ‘winner model’ this year. A day later, the World Press Photo exhibition opens in the church, featuring all winners. The exhibition premieres in De Nieuwe Kerk and then travels to over 60 locations worldwide.

70 Years of World Press Photo

The World Press Photo Contest 2025 is held as part of the celebration of World Press Photo’s 70th anniversary. It’s an opportunity to reflect on these stories in a historical context. The now-renowned competition has become increasingly international in recent years, partly thanks to the regional competition model. This year, 30 out of the 42 winners are from the country where their projects were photographed.

The World Press Photo Exhibition 2025 will be on display at De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam from Friday 18 April, to Sunday 21 September 2025. Book your tickets online through our ticket shop.
