Leaving a legacy
In addition to giving during your lifetime, you may also consider remembering De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam in your will. As a registered cultural ANBI (Public Benefit Organization), De Nieuwe Kerk is fully exempt from inheritance tax, meaning your entire gift will directly support our work and mission.
There are two main ways to include De Nieuwe Kerk in your legacy:
Bequest (Erfstelling)
By naming De Nieuwe Kerk as (co-)heir in your will, you can leave a designated percentage of your estate to us. You decide how your estate is divided among your heirs. You may choose to include De Nieuwe Kerk alongside your children or even appoint us as your sole heir. Please note that, if you have children, they remain entitled to their legal portion (legitieme portie).
Legacy (Legaat)
If you prefer not to name De Nieuwe Kerk as an heir but would still like to support us through your will, you can include a specific legacy. This means you leave a set amount of money or a specific asset—such as a house, a piece of land, or a portfolio of shares—to De Nieuwe Kerk. It is possible to include several such legacies in your will.
We understand that thinking about these matters can be difficult and deeply personal. If you would like more information or wish to speak with someone in confidence, we are here for you.
