De Nieuwe Kerk and the patron of De Nieuwe Kerk Foundation hold official cultural ANBI (Public Benefit Organization) status in the Netherlands.

Thanks to the current Dutch Geefwet (Charitable Giving Act), individual donors can deduct 125% of their donation to a cultural ANBI from their taxable income in Box 1. In other words, the tax authorities allow you to deduct 25% more than the amount you actually donated.

How It Works
This extra deduction applies to both one-time and recurring donations, up to a maximum donation of €5,000 per year. That means you can deduct up to €1,250 more than your actual gift. If you donate more than €5,000 annually to cultural ANBIs, you can still deduct the higher amount, but the extra 25% deduction applies only to the first €5,000.

Example:

• Your income is €70,000. The threshold for deducting gifts is 1%, which equals €700.
• You donate €2,500 to De Nieuwe Kerk.
• You may report this donation as €3,125 (i.e. €2,500 + 25%).
• After subtracting the €700 threshold, your total deductible amount is €2,425.

For Businesses

The Geefwet also offers tax advantages for corporate donors. Companies subject to Dutch corporate tax may deduct donations to cultural ANBIs at 150% of the donated amount, up to a maximum of €5,000 per year. This multiplier makes corporate giving more financially attractive.
