| Summary | From 2 July to 23 October 2005 De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam in conjunction with the Dutch Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer) will present the major exhibition World Nature Art about nature in art. Some 175 objects from many Dutch collections and several museum and private collections in other countries will be used to show the image of nature in four world cultures: that of the West, that of Islam, that of the East and that of the indigenous peoples. But apart from being a superb collection of artworks in a spectacular setting, this is an exhibition with a purpose. The Forestry Commission has taken this initiative in order to 'bring nature to the city', not only for people's enjoyment, but chiefly to make it clear that each of us has an image of nature that is determined by our culture. |
| Organisation | The exhibition has been organised by De Nieuwe Kerk in conjunction with the Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer). |
| Concept | D'ARTS art historical bureau and exhibition architect Yusuf Kho. |
| Sponsors | The exhibition has been made possible by the Founders of De Nieuwe Kerk: Fortis Bank and Buhrmann NV; and the Chief Sponsors: Getronics and KPMG. The exhibition is supported by the Mondriaan Stichting and VSB Fonds. |
